One AI agent working for you feels like a cheat code. Six of them feels like herding cats through browser tabs — unless you have a Hermes agent command center, a single screen where every agent, every job and every result shows up in one place. I run my whole operation this way now, but for months my "team" was five stray terminal windows — I once lost a research agent for two days because I forgot which tab it lived in.

Chaos in tabs, superpower on one screen — that is the pitch. I make videos about this for over 400,000 subscribers, and the question I get most is no longer which model to run; it is how to see everything at once. So here is every real way to build mission control for Hermes, from the built-in Bot Mode roster to the full Agent OS I use daily.

What a Hermes Agent Command Center Actually Has to Do

Strip away the sci-fi and a command centre has four jobs. You can see every agent, its status and its current work in one place. You can hand out jobs without hunting for the right window. Results land somewhere you will actually see them. And memory is shared, so what one agent learns this morning, another agent can use this afternoon.

That is the whole spec, whether it looks like NASA or like a chat list. I have covered the generic version of this idea in my separate piece on the agentic OS command centre; this page is purely about doing it with Hermes.

Five Ways to Build Your Hermes Agent Command Center

There are five real options, and they stack rather than compete. Most people end up running two or three at once.

1. Bot Mode — the built-in roster

Hermes now ships its own mission-control view, and it is the fastest way in. Bot Mode gives you named bots down the left-hand side, each with its own avatar, personality, chat thread, memory and schedule. You are not staring at anonymous processes; you are looking at a team roster, and that shift changes how you delegate.

The details are what make it work as a command centre. You can pin a different model to each bot, so the heavy reasoning bot and the cheap summariser share one screen. Bots message each other through an agent inbox, and @mentions hand work between bots inside a single conversation. Every bot gets a routines panel running on Hermes cron — my morning inbox summary fires before I sit down, a noon niche check fires while I am filming. And my favourite touch: avatars get working eyes when a bot is busy. A status light with personality — one glance tells you who is actually doing something.

If you want mission control without building it from scratch, the AI Profit Boardroom ships the Agent OS — the exact command centre this page describes — as a zip with tutorials. → Get mission control

2. The desktop app and web dashboard

The second layer is the interface itself. The desktop app gives you chat and voice, but the command-centre value is the furniture around the conversation: a preview rail rendering pages, files and builds beside the chat, so you watch work take shape instead of reading about it; a context meter in the status bar, so you know how full the agent's head is; and /journey, an audit map of every skill and memory it has picked up. Multiple windows give you one screen per agent, and a global hotkey captures a passing thought without breaking your flow.

I have ranked every interface option in my best Hermes web UI round-up, with the setup walkthrough in my Hermes web UI guide — and my Hermes desktop browser piece covers the agent driving a browser beside the chat.

3. The Kanban layer

This is where Hermes stops being a chat app and starts being a company. Hermes has a documented multi-agent Kanban board: you drop tickets into a to-do column, worker agents pick them up, and the results attach to the ticket when it lands in done. You stop prompting and start assigning — the same motion as a CEO handing work to a team, except this one costs pennies.

I have pushed that pattern to its logical end — mission, org chart, launch, delegate, iterate, expand, the GOLDIE method — in my Hermes agent Paperclip write-up: the full org-chart version of what the board does in miniature.

4. Messaging gateways — the pocket command centre

You do not need a screen at all. Hermes plugs into Telegram, Discord, Slack and WhatsApp, and the trick is one chat per agent. Your chat list becomes the roster — research in one thread, content in another — and scrolling your phone is scanning the board. Loops and routines ping you in those threads between your messages, so results find you on the school run instead of waiting in a dashboard. For weeks at a time this is the only mission control I actually look at.

5. The Agent OS — the full build

Everything above is Hermes managing Hermes. My actual Hermes agent command center goes one step wider. The Agent OS is a local dashboard where Hermes sits next to Claude, OpenClaw and the free coding engines, all on one screen. Mission-control tiles show the status of every agent, memory store and signal at a glance. Memory lives in a shared Obsidian vault, so what one agent learns, the others can see. And I can swap the model behind any agent in one click, because the right engine for a job changes month to month.

How My Own Board Is Wired

Concretely, my roster has names and faces. Oracle is my competitor and news radar. Astros pulls keywords from live search data. Muse mines winners — content that already worked, so we make more of it. Apollo captures voice notes and turns my rambling into tasks. Each one has a face on the dashboard, its own chat and its own schedule — exactly the roster thinking Bot Mode encourages, spread across more than one engine.

Two decisions hold it together. First, shared memory: the Obsidian vault is the single source of truth, and I have tested the alternatives in my best memory for Hermes comparison — if memory is not shared, you do not have a team, you have four strangers in adjacent rooms. Second, model choice per tile comes from evidence rather than vibes: I run side-by-sides on Goldie Bench and pin whichever engine actually won that job.

What to Put on the Board First

Do not start with ten agents. Start with five tiles that pay for themselves in week one:

  1. The morning briefing routine — one scheduled job that summarises overnight results, news and numbers before you sit down.
  2. The inbox bot — reads and triages email, drafts replies for your approval.
  3. The research bot — competitor moves, niche changes, anything you would otherwise doom-scroll to find.
  4. The content pipeline — briefs, drafts and repurposing running as tickets on the board rather than one-off prompts.
  5. The deploy or CI watcher loop — an agent that watches your builds and only pings you when something breaks.

Get those five boringly reliable and mornings start with a report instead of a scramble.

Hermes Agent Command Center FAQ

What is a Hermes agent command center?

It is one view over every Hermes agent you run — who exists, what each is doing right now, what results have landed and what is scheduled next — plus the ability to hand out new jobs from the same screen. Bot Mode is the built-in version; the Agent OS is the expanded one.

Is Bot Mode enough on its own?

For many people, yes. If everything you run is Hermes, the roster, routines, agent inbox and per-bot model pinning cover all four jobs a command centre exists to do. The Agent OS earns its place when you want cross-agent memory and non-Hermes agents — Claude and the free coding engines — on the same board.

Can I run it from my phone?

Yes. Give each agent its own messaging thread and your phone becomes the board. Routines and loops ping you between messages, so the pocket version is closer to the desk version than you would think.

Do the agents actually share memory?

Only if you build it that way. Inside Bot Mode each bot keeps its own memory — right for personality, siloed for knowledge. I solve it with a shared Obsidian vault every agent reads and writes; whatever you choose, shared beats private.

How many agents should I start with?

Two or three. The five starter tiles above are the ceiling for month one. Every agent you add is a name, a job and a schedule you have to maintain — grow the roster once the current one is reliable, not before.

The Verdict

Start with Bot Mode today — it is already inside Hermes and gives you a genuine roster in an afternoon. Add the Kanban board when you have batch work, push your busiest agents onto your phone through a gateway, and graduate to the Agent OS when you want one screen over everything you run. The tool matters less than the habit: one place to look, names on the work, and you approving what matters.

Six agents in six tabs is chaos. The same six on one board is the closest thing to a superpower I know.
