Using Hermes Agent for marketing means giving one open-source agent from Nous Research a marketing profile with its own skills and memory, then letting cron jobs, the browser tool and the messaging gateway handle research, first drafts, competitor checks and weekly reports while a person approves what goes out. Hermes is MIT licensed and runs on your own machine or server.

This page is the marketing version of our Hermes Agent for business guide. Every workflow below uses a feature the Hermes docs describe, written as a setup or prompt you can copy.
What Hermes Agent for marketing can do, feature by feature
The Hermes docs list the building blocks. Here is what each one means for a marketing team.
- Profiles. The docs say each profile is a separate Hermes home with its own config, memory, sessions, skills and cron jobs. A "marketing" profile keeps brand notes apart from your other agents.
- Skills. Skills are on-demand instruction files in the skills folder. A brand-voice skill or a blog-brief skill loads only when the task needs it.
- Memory. MEMORY.md and USER.md hold short, curated notes the agent carries into every session, scoped per profile.
- Cron. Scheduled jobs run from plain language or cron expressions, can attach skills, and deliver results to a chat, a file or a platform target.
- Browser. The browser_exec tool navigates, reads, clicks, scrapes and takes screenshots in a real browser.
- Bot Mode and Group Chats. In the Desktop app, each profile becomes a Bot. The docs say Bots deliberate together in group chats of two to six members.
- Delegation. delegate_task spawns child agents with their own context, and only the final summary returns to the parent.
If you want ready-made marketing workflows and a group of people running agents like this every week, the AI Profit Boardroom is $69/mo and covers Hermes setups step by step.
Set up a marketing profile in Hermes Agent
Start with a dedicated profile. The docs say a profile named "marketing" gets its own command, so marketing chat opens that agent and marketing gateway start runs its bot.
- Create the profile and write a SOUL.md with the brand tone, audience and words to avoid.
- Add a skill called brand-voice with three sample posts you like and three you never want to repeat.
- Ask the agent to save stable facts to memory: "Remember that our audience is local gym owners and we never use discount language."
- Pick a model for this profile. Draft work can run on a smaller model, while the weekly strategy summary runs on a stronger one.
A two-person marketing agency could run one profile per client. Each client's notes, skills and schedules stay in their own folder, so nothing leaks from one account to another. Our Hermes multiple profiles page covers the setup in more detail.

Hermes Agent for marketing: the workflow table
This table maps each marketing task to the Hermes feature that handles it, what starts it, and where a person signs off.
| Marketing task | Hermes feature | Trigger | Approval point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Topic research for next week | Cron job + web search + brand skill | Every Monday morning | You pick topics from the list |
| Blog and email first drafts | Marketing profile + brand-voice skill | Chat prompt or Telegram message | Editor reviews before publishing |
| Competitor page checks | browser_exec + cron | Weekly schedule | Read-only, nothing is sent |
| Campaign brainstorm | Group Chat with two to six Bots | You post the brief in the room | You choose the final angle |
| Weekly marketing report | Cron job delivering to Slack | Friday afternoon | Team reads it before acting |
| Writing to a connected app | MCP server marked trust: untrusted | Agent call during a task | Hermes asks before each write |
Content research and drafts with Hermes Agent
Research is where a scheduled agent saves the most manual tab-hopping. A cron job can run every Monday and send a short list to your team chat.
Sample cron prompt: "Every Monday at 8am, search the web for the five most discussed topics this week about home fitness equipment. For each one, give a working headline, the question people keep asking, and two source links. Use the brand-voice skill. Deliver to Slack."
What it produces: a list in your Slack channel with headlines, questions and links. Nothing gets published. You pick two topics and reply in the thread.
For drafts, message the marketing profile from Telegram or Slack: "Draft a 600-word blog post on topic two, plus a three-line email teaser and two social captions. Follow the brand-voice skill. Save the draft to the drafts folder."
The output is a file a human edits. The v0.23.0 plugin catalog lists community plugins for scheduling posts, such as AdaptlyPost and Postroom, which only schedules posts you explicitly approve. They are third-party, not built by Nous Research, so read each one before you connect it, or keep posting manual. Our Hermes Agent cron job guide shows how schedules and delivery targets work.

Competitor monitoring with Hermes Agent and the browser tool
The Hermes docs describe browser_exec as a tool that can navigate, read, scrape and screenshot pages. Paired with cron, that gives you a weekly competitor sweep.
Sample setup: "Every Thursday, open these four competitor pricing and features pages. Compare them with last week's notes in the competitor-log file. List only what changed: new offers, new headlines, removed features. Take a screenshot of any page that changed. Deliver the summary to Telegram."
What it produces: a short change log and screenshots. It is read-only, so there is nothing to approve. A small ecommerce brand could use this to spot a rival's new bundle before planning its own promotion.
The docs also say cron jobs default to deny when they hit a dangerous command, so an unattended run cannot do anything destructive without you.
Run a marketing Group Chat in Hermes Agent
The v0.23.0 "Hearth" release notes (5 November 2026) say Group Chats can now let a lead bot or an automatic router pick who answers a message that names nobody, that scheduled jobs can post into a room, and that rooms keep a purpose and shared notes.
A marketing room could hold three Bots, each a profile with its own skills:
- Researcher with web search and the competitor-log file.
- Writer with the brand-voice skill.
- Editor with a checklist skill for tone, claims and calls to action.
Post a brief such as "Plan a spring email campaign for returning customers" and the Bots work through it in the room. You read the thread and choose the angle. See our Hermes group chat guide for how rooms are set up.
Weekly marketing reports from Hermes Agent
A Friday cron job can pull together what happened. Sample prompt: "Every Friday at 3pm, read this week's files in the drafts and competitor-log folders. Write a one-page report: what we published, what competitors changed, three ideas for next week. Deliver to the marketing Slack channel."
If you connect an analytics or project tool through an MCP server from the catalog, the report can include it. The Hermes MCP docs name hosted servers such as Notion, Asana and Atlassian. Set write-capable servers to trust: untrusted so every write asks first.

Model choice and cost control for Hermes Agent marketing work
The docs give you several places to pick a model. A cron job resolves its model in this order: a per-job pin, then cron.model, then your main model. Subagents can use their own model through delegation.model. Side tasks such as titles and compression can use auxiliary models.
In practice, run research and drafts on a smaller model and keep a stronger one for the final edit. The v0.23.0 release also adds price tags and spend limits for paid MCP tools: the approval prompt shows each call's cost and the chat's running total. For how we compare models, see Goldie Bench.
Who Hermes Agent for marketing fits, and who it doesn't
It fits:
- Small teams that already write in Slack or Telegram and want research and drafts waiting for them.
- Agencies that need separate profiles per client.
- Owners comfortable editing a config file or following a setup guide.
It doesn't fit:
- Teams that want a built-in social scheduler. Scheduling comes only from third-party community plugins.
- Anyone who wants posts published with no human review.
- People who never want to touch settings. A hosted tool may suit them better. Our Grok Bot for marketing page covers a hosted alternative, and Claude skills for marketing covers another route.

Hermes Agent for marketing FAQ
Can Hermes Agent post to social media on its own?
Not out of the box. The v0.23.0 plugin catalog has third-party community plugins such as AdaptlyPost and Postroom that can schedule or publish posts. Read each plugin before you connect it, and keep a human approval on anything that publishes.
Does Hermes Agent remember my brand voice?
Yes, through memory and skills. The docs say MEMORY.md and USER.md persist across sessions per profile, and a brand-voice skill loads when a task needs it.
Is Hermes Agent free to use for marketing?
The software is open source under the MIT license. You still pay whatever your chosen model provider charges, which is why model choice per job matters.
How do I start with Hermes Agent for marketing?
Create one marketing profile, add a brand-voice skill, and set a single Monday research cron job. Add competitor checks and reports once that runs well. Inside the AI Profit Boardroom you get the setup walkthroughs, or book a free AI strategy session to plan yours.
