Grok Bot Android is xAI's official Grok Bot app on Google Play, and it runs on any phone with Android 9 or later. You install it, sign in with the same account you use on desktop, and your phone becomes a remote control for Bots that work on a cloud computer. The phone does not do the heavy work. It starts tasks, answers questions, approves steps and shows you results.

What Grok Bot Android actually is
Grok Bot is xAI's agent product. You create Bots, give each one a job, and they work on a hosted computer in the cloud. That computer has a browser, a desktop and a shell. xAI's deployment docs say the hosted computer runs Linux in the cloud, one per member, and updates itself in the background.
The Android app is a client. xAI's docs describe the phone and desktop apps as "clients for chat, review, and approvals." Your Bots do the work on the cloud computer, so the work keeps going when you close the app or lock your phone.
For a small business owner, that means you can start a task at your desk and approve the next step from your phone.
For ready-made Bot setups, prompts and workflows for running a business with AI agents, join the AI Profit Boardroom. It's $69/mo.
How to install Grok Bot on Android
- Open Google Play on your phone and search for Grok Bot, or use the Google Play link in xAI's mobile docs (package ai.x.grok.bot).
- Install the app and open it.
- Choose Log In or Sign Up.
- Finish authentication in the browser with the same account you use on desktop or web. xAI's docs say there is no separate Grok Bot login.
- If your access comes from a SuperGrok or X Premium+ subscription, choose Link Grok Account, sign in to Grok in the browser, then choose Finished Linking? Refresh My Status.
New users get a short tour, pick a first Bot, and wait while the shared computer is set up. Existing users go straight to their synced Bot list.
Your plan carries over. xAI's docs list Premium, Super or Ultra on The X Subscription, legacy paid Cursor plans, and SuperGrok or X Premium+ links as eligible. If one of those already covers you, the docs say you should not buy a second subscription through Google Play. If you do subscribe from the phone, only monthly individual plans are offered in the app, and Android has no in-app trial. Cancel a Google Play plan in the Play app under Payments and subscriptions.
For company phones, xAI's deployment guide says admins can approve the app in managed Google Play from Intune or another Android device management tool.

Grok Bot Android requirements and features at a glance
| Item | What xAI's docs say for Android |
|---|---|
| Minimum OS | Android 9 or later |
| Where to get it | Google Play |
| Account | Same account as desktop, no separate login |
| Where Bots run | A hosted Linux computer in the cloud |
| Share sheet | Accepts text only for now |
| Phone apps a Bot can use | Calendar, Contacts, Location, Alarms and timers |
| Desktop-only tasks | Teaching by demonstration, testing routines, updating or recovering the computer |
| In-app trial | None on Android |
What you can do from the Android app
xAI's mobile docs list the controls you get in a conversation:
- Send text, or dictate with Start dictation.
- Start a live voice conversation with Start voice chat.
- Play a voice memo a Bot sent you.
- Take or attach a photo, or choose an image or file.
- Mention another Bot or @everyone in a group, reply in a thread, react to a message.
- Edit an email or Slack draft a Bot prepared, then choose Send or Discard.
Drafts save per conversation when you leave. You can create new Bots and group chats from the + control, pin or hide conversations, and search across messages, Bots, group chats, files and routines.
Routines work too. Open a Bot's profile to see each routine's schedule, next run, instruction and run history. Use Active to pause or resume one, or Edit routine to change it in chat. Testing a routine still needs the desktop app. See Grok Bot routines for how scheduling works.
One Android limit to know: the share sheet currently accepts text only. On iPhone you can share photos, files and links into a chat. On Android, attach files from inside the app instead.
📺 Watch: Grok Bot Just Got a NEW Update!
Your Android phone vs the Bot's cloud computer
This is the part most people get wrong. Your Android phone is not where the Bot browses the web. The Bot uses its own computer in the cloud, shared by every Bot on your account.
From the phone you can open that computer and:
- Watch the Bot work in the browser or on the desktop.
- Take over for a password, two-factor code or CAPTCHA.
- Inspect the current screen.
- Hand control back with I'm done.
xAI's docs say updating and recovering the computer aren't available on mobile. If the computer won't connect, use the desktop app. For the full picture of what the Bot does on that computer, read Grok Bot computer use.

Let a Bot use apps on your Android phone
A Bot can use some apps on your phone when you ask. xAI's docs say this works only in your own chat with a Bot you own, inside the Grok Bot app. It does not work in group chats, in Slack, or with a shared Bot someone else owns.
On Android, the Bot can use:
- Calendar: read events, and add, change or delete them. It can't change or delete a repeating event, and it never invites anyone.
- Contacts: look up a phone number, email, address or birthday. Read only.
- Location: read where the phone is. It gets a position, not an address.
- Alarms: set an alarm or start a timer, up to 24 hours ahead. It can't list, change or cancel them.
Android has one quirk. The docs say the phone passes alarms and timers to your Clock app, which may open, and the Clock app doesn't confirm it saved them. So the Bot asks you to check the Clock app.
Keep Grok Bot open while the Bot works. If the app is closed or in the background, the Bot can't reach your phone and asks you to open it. To give permission ahead of time, go to Settings, then Connect apps, and choose Android. If an app shows Denied, choose Open Settings and turn it on. Apps that need no permission, like Alarms on Android, show what they do instead.
If your team has set a limit, each phone shows Ask every time, Never allow or Always allow under Tools on this device.
Grok Bot Android notifications
The app asks for notification permission on first run. Both the phone permission and the Bot's own notification setting must allow it.
- To mute one Bot, tap its name at the top of the chat and turn off Notifications.
- To mute every Bot on the phone, open Settings and turn off Notifications.
If you also use the desktop app, the rules change. xAI's docs say that while you use the desktop app on macOS or Windows, notifications from Bots you own go to the desktop instead of your phone. Finished replies skip the phone. When a Bot needs your input, your phone is notified about 3 minutes later unless you open that Bot first. On Linux, the phone is notified as usual. The changelog for v0.71.2 (14 October 2026) added this move to the PC. The Grok Bot Windows page covers the desktop side.
Where the Android app fits in your Grok Bot setup
Use the phone for quick decisions: approvals, answers, sign-in takeovers and checking results. Use the desktop for setup work: teaching a workflow, testing routines and recovering the computer. If you're on an iPhone as well, the Grok Bot iOS page lists what Apple users get that Android doesn't, like Reminders and Home.
Grok Bot is one option. If you want to compare it with a self-hosted agent, read Grok Bot vs Hermes. For the bigger system of running several agents across a business, see the Agent OS guide. To see how the underlying models compare, check Goldie Bench.
