My Kimi Claw review verdict: Kimi Claw is Moonshot AI's one-click cloud version of OpenClaw, and it does exactly what it promises — your own always-on AI agent, deployed from the browser in about a minute, running 24/7 with no server, no Node.js and no configuration. If you want OpenClaw without the technical setup, this is the easiest route that exists. The trade-offs: access sat behind one of Kimi's higher paid tiers, it was still in beta when I covered it in February 2026 (so check what's current before you commit), and your agent's data lives in Moonshot's cloud rather than on your machine.

Here's what I'll walk through: why OpenClaw blew up in the first place, why self-hosting stopped most people at the door, what Kimi Claw actually does, and the trade-offs the launch hype conveniently skipped.

What Kimi Claw Actually Deploys: OpenClaw

Kimi Claw is, at its core, a hosted one-click version of OpenClaw — so understanding what OpenClaw is tells you exactly what you're getting with Kimi Claw. OpenClaw is an open-source AI agent, and the word agent is doing real work in that sentence. A chatbot answers when you type at it. OpenClaw browses the web, manages your files, runs scheduled tasks, connects to Telegram and WhatsApp, and keeps long-term memory of you and your projects. The personal-Jarvis framing people reach for is, for once, roughly fair. In early 2026 it passed 100,000 GitHub stars in under a week, putting it among the fastest-growing repositories in GitHub history.

One story that did the rounds captures the appeal: a developer reportedly had his OpenClaw agent negotiate a car purchase over email with multiple dealers, playing them off against each other, and came away with about $4,200 knocked off. Reportedly — I can't verify it. But the fact it was even believable tells you what class of tool sits behind Kimi Claw's create button. If you're starting from zero, my OpenClaw course covers the fundamentals, and I've separately broken down the best ways to make money with OpenClaw if you want the commercial angle.

The Setup Problem Kimi Claw Removes

To see what Kimi Claw is actually removing, look at what running OpenClaw yourself meant: a server, Node.js, API configuration, and keeping the whole thing alive 24/7. That's a weekend project for a developer and a brick wall for everyone else — and it's precisely where a huge share of interested people gave up. Every item on that list is something Kimi Claw deletes. The OpenClaw desktop app made local installs friendlier, but the fundamental problem never moved: an agent is only useful around the clock if something is running around the clock, and most people don't want to babysit a machine. With Kimi Claw, the machine — and the babysitting — stop being your job.

Kimi Claw Review: What Moonshot AI Actually Shipped

On 15 February 2026, Moonshot AI announced Kimi Claw in beta. It makes OpenClaw native to kimi.com, in the browser. You click create, and roughly a minute later your agent is deployed to the cloud. It runs 24/7 even with your computer off. No server, no Node.js, no config files, nothing to keep alive.

Under the hood it auto-configures Moonshot's Kimi K2.5 thinking model — a 1-trillion-parameter mixture-of-experts model — so there's no API juggling either, and real-time web search is switched on by default, which matters more than it sounds for an agent doing research work. If you want a feel for Moonshot's models before paying for anything, my guide to getting Kimi K3 for free is the cheap way in.

ClawHub: 5,000+ Skills Your Agent Finds Itself

ClawHub is the skill library built directly into Kimi Claw, and it's where the hosted version pulls ahead on sheer numbers. At my recording, ClawHub held over 5,000 community-contributed skills, against roughly 700 in the self-hosted version. Skills are the packaged abilities an agent draws on — research workflows, report formats, integrations — and the gap compounds, because every new contribution lands in the same shared library.

The part I genuinely like: you don't browse it. Your Kimi Claw agent searches ClawHub itself and pulls what it needs. Ask for a daily research digest delivered to Telegram every morning, and it finds the relevant skill, sets it up and starts delivering. You describe outcomes; it handles the plumbing.

40GB of Storage and the Telegram Bridge

Every Kimi Claw agent comes with 40GB of built-in cloud storage — files, data, outputs and memories all live in one always-on place rather than scattered across whichever machine happened to be switched on. For an agent that accumulates context over weeks, that persistence is quietly one of Kimi Claw's most useful features.

The Telegram side is what changes daily behaviour, though. You can bridge your Kimi Claw agent into Telegram group chats, run skills from there and receive automated updates without opening the browser at all. Set an automation, close the laptop, get pinged when something happens. I've written before about why a Telegram AI agent is the interface that actually sticks — the tools you don't have to open are the ones you keep using.

Bring Your Own Claw: The Hybrid Option

If you already self-host, Kimi Claw doesn't force a choice. The bring-your-own-claw option connects an existing local OpenClaw instance to kimi.com, which gives you a hybrid setup: you keep local control of the agent itself while gaining the interface and the integrations. For tinkerers who've invested in a local build but fancy the polished front end, it's a sensible middle path rather than a migration.

Access: It Wasn't on the Cheap Tier

Now the catch, as I covered it: beta access was limited to one of Kimi's higher paid subscription tiers — not the entry-level plan. Whether that's still the structure, which tier qualifies today, or whether it has opened up since is exactly the sort of thing that shifts as a beta matures, so check the current requirements on kimi.com before you plan anything around it.

My Honest Take: The Good, the Gaps, the Trade-Off

I judge tools the way everything gets judged on Goldie Bench, my own testing setup: on what they do, not on what the launch thread promises. So, plainly — Kimi Claw is a genuine one-click cloud deployment, and that removes the single biggest barrier OpenClaw had. That part is real, and it works.

It is not a magic everything-box. It's a beta, and it feels like one in places: at my recording there was no dedicated UI panel for scheduled tasks. You manage tasks by chatting with the agent and asking what's running — workable, but a proper dashboard it is not. Terminal UI support was listed as coming, which tells you where it sits on the maturity curve.

Then there's the consideration any honest Kimi Claw review has to state: your agent's memory, tasks and files live in Moonshot AI's hosted environment, and Moonshot is a Chinese company. For sensitive or confidential information, think carefully about what you hand to any hosted agent — this one included. For personal productivity — research summaries, content pipelines, daily briefings — it's genuinely useful. Just understand the trade-off you're making, and make it on purpose.

Who Should Use It — and Who Should Self-Host

Simple split. If privacy comes first — client data, confidential documents, anything you wouldn't email a stranger — self-host OpenClaw locally and accept the setup cost as the price of control. If convenience comes first and the workload is personal productivity, Kimi Claw is the version you'll actually keep running, because it never depends on your discipline to keep a machine alive.

Zoom out and the pattern matters more than the product. OpenClaw showed everyone what autonomous agents look like; Kimi Claw makes that accessible to people who'd never have survived the original setup, and the skill library and integrations will only grow from here. It's the same shift I map in my Agent OS guide — the value is moving from installing agents to operating them. And if you're still weighing up which agent to run at all, my Hermes vs OpenClaw comparison covers that fork properly.

Kimi Claw FAQ

What is Kimi Claw?

It's Moonshot AI's cloud version of OpenClaw, announced in beta on 15 February 2026. It runs the open-source agent natively on kimi.com: one click deploys it to the cloud in about a minute, powered by the Kimi K2.5 thinking model, and it keeps running 24/7 whether your computer is on or not.

Is Kimi Claw free?

Not when I covered it. Beta access sat behind one of Kimi's higher paid subscription tiers rather than the entry-level plan. Tiers and availability tend to shift as betas open up, so check the current requirements before subscribing to anything on the strength of this feature.

Is my data private on Kimi Claw?

Your agent's memory, tasks and files are held in Moonshot AI's hosted environment, and Moonshot is a Chinese company. That's a workable arrangement for plenty of personal-productivity jobs, but for sensitive or confidential information you should think carefully — or keep that workload on a self-hosted instance instead.

Can I keep my local OpenClaw setup?

Yes. The bring-your-own-claw option connects an existing local OpenClaw instance to kimi.com, so you keep local control while gaining the hosted interface and integrations. It's a hybrid, not a migration.

Is Kimi Claw still in beta?

It was in beta when I covered it, with gaps to match — no dedicated scheduled-tasks panel, and terminal UI support still listed as coming. Check kimi.com for the current state, because this is exactly the kind of product that changes month to month.

Verdict

The verdict of this Kimi Claw review is straightforward. OpenClaw proved what autonomous agents can do; Kimi Claw is the first version ordinary people will actually run, because the hardest part — hosting — is now someone else's job. If your work is sensitive, self-host and keep control. If your goal is research digests, content pipelines and daily briefings that happen whether or not your laptop is open, this is the easiest route I've seen so far — just go in with your eyes open about where the data lives.
